Why Hearts & Hammers exists
The Hearts & Hammers Foundation was created to meet a very real and growing need in our community. Colorado’s climate, with hail, high winds and seasonal extremes, takes a serious toll on homes. At the same time, rising insurance costs, higher deductibles and the overall cost of living have left many families choosing between fixing their home and covering everyday expenses.
Too many families are living in homes that need critical repairs, with no clear path forward. That’s where Hearts & Hammers steps in.
Through the support of generous partners and community members, the people of Petrali Roofing created this foundation to help families in need. Roofing remains a core part of the mission, including our annual Roof Giveaway, and our focus continues to grow to meet a wider range of needs within the home.

A sound roof protects everything underneath it. Critical repairs keep families safe through Colorado’s hail, wind and winter.

An unexpected repair shouldn’t force a family to choose between their home and their bills. We help remove that impossible choice.

How recipients are chosen
The annual Roof Giveaway follows a careful, personal process so help goes where it’s needed most.
Apply or nominate
Each year, nominations open to the public. Apply for your own home or nominate someone you know who needs help.
Roof inspection
Every eligible home receives a roof inspection so our team understands the real condition and the real need.
Careful selection
Each situation is evaluated through a thoughtful, intentional vetting process. The recipient is notified by phone.
A new roof goes on
Local contractors and suppliers donate time and materials, and a brand-new roof is installed for the family.
